R.I.P. "Buddy"

I know I havnt posted anything in quite awhile, and that will be addressed shortly ...

But I wanted to take a moment to send my respects out to "Buddy" Turner who passed away on Sunday. Buddy was a firefighter well known throughout the Groton area and was well liked by a lot of people. Buddy succumbed to the cancer that has ravaged his body the last years and he fought a couragous battle.

Ken's Tackle Shop - City of Groton 01.09.08

On January 9, 2008 Groton City was dispatched to a reported basement fire at Ken's Tackle Shop on Thames St. Units arrived on scene and quickly struck a box plus and then the second alarm for manpower to the scene. A third alarm was struck sometime into the incident for additional manpower. The fire was held to the fire building (it was on a tight block with another building a mere 4' away). Great job to the responding units ...

Tree fire ...

On Sunday January 6, 2007 Ledyard Fire was sent out to a report of a tree on fire with no power lines involved on Gallup Hill Rd in the area of the high school. As R-1 said after he got there and found a tree on fire from ashes tossed near by, "You cant make this stuff up". FF's on scene sprayed the tree with water then cut it down and foamed the area to eliminate a rekindle.

Thanksgiving Week Crash

In the afternoon of November 23, 2007 Ledyard Fire and LVEs were dispatched to Rt 117 just north of the Groton town line for a two car MVA reported with injuries. Units found two cars that a struck each other head and one vehicle in the roadway, the other had spun onto the grass on the side of the road. Personal treated 1 ALS patient and 3 BLS patients. I only got a few pics cause it was a busy scene and I didnt get much time to snap shots.
